Real estate agents organize transactions between buyers and sellers. Agents are responsible for presenting offers and counteroffers between each party, along with any questions they may have. An agent will work with another agent when an offer is accepted, guiding clients through the process of filling out paperwork. They also make sure their clients are fully aware of any requirements to complete the sale, including home inspections, moving, and important dates such as the closing.
The agent who represents sellers is called the listing agents. Listing agents help set the listing price, suggest home updates that will increase the home’s value (and the chance of a successful sale), recommend home staging, and market the home via the local Multiple Listing Service (MLS) and other channels. They also negotiate sales prices, closing costs, and other fees and help prepare, submit, and file documents.
